A message from Dr. Ishbah Cox
We’ve made it through an entire performance cycle, where all of our students have finally
performed. Both half of the bands have had their chance, and both bands put on wonderful
performances. Although it has not been ideal, we have worked through this situation without
major issues. I’m thankful for good health and any opportunity to make music again. As I
mentioned to many of you before, there are many student musicians and music educators
throughout the state and beyond who have not and most likely will not perform this fall, because
of what we are facing. We are blessed to have successfully navigated our positive experiences,
and doing this the best and safest way we know how.
Note: Other programs may do things differently, but we will continue to do what will work for us. As the Director of Bands, I want to make the decisions that will be the safest and best for our unique program, with the support and guidance of my staff and our administration, specifically, Mr. Trond Smith and Mr. Brett Diehl. In other words, some of the things that you will see take place by other programs we may or may not try, because it may or may not be the best situation for us. I am sure other programs will see what we will do and opt not try or possibly consider giving what we do try. Because we do not have a uniform mandate, and I making the judgment to best fit the needs of the Orange Program, and I remain hopeful that things will continue to go well.
With that being said, I have been thinking about additional performances that will meet our program’s needs, and these are some of the ones that we will work to schedule:
Masks must be worn at all times unless it hinders you from performing what we are asking you to do. If
there are any individual health concerns regarding the use of masks please make me aware of this as soon
as possible so we can identify the student with the appropriate wristband.
Here’s snapshot of things to come. Please note that the calendar is subject to
